Every now and again I like to take a break from alcohol (sadly, this includes wine and spritzers). Truth is, there is always a reason to celebrate and therefore never a good time to boycott a cocktail reception. With spring in the air my decision to pass on the bubbly is more a decision made in favor of vanity than anything else.
Alcohol (sadly, this includes wine) dehydrates the skin and depletes skin of essential nutrients. In response to sever dehydration skin cell get all greedy and horde the first drop of moisture they find. Yes!! This is why after a wild night out your skin will feel bloated, hung-over and blemished with nasty hangover zits.
In honour of spring, short shorts and perfect summer skin I’m taking skin measures into my own glass.
Raw Face Mask:
This face mask does wonders for dry dull skin. The potassium from the banana helps to revitalize the skin; the vitamin E in the avocado and coconut oil helps to soften and protect skin from environmental pollutants and the honey helps erase blemishes.
Ingredients:
- 1 banana
- 1 avocado
- ¼ cup fresh orange juice
- 1 tbsp. coconut oil
- 1 tbsp. raw honey
In a large bowl blend all the ingredients together until smooth.
Apply a generous amount of the mask to your face and let it set for 15-20 minutes. Your skin should begin to feel tight.
Wipe the mask off with a hot cloth. Follow with a gentle toner and moisturizer.
